About My Work

Joy of the beautiful landscape and a sense of place is what I’m after in my paintings.  Capturing the light of the day, and the seasons, I spend a lot of time exploring and hiking as well as always finding something more that interests me about painting. The energy of brushstrokes, color theories, contrasts between line and shapes, light and dark, or just “being in a place” feeling that sense of place, there is always something to make a statement about in my paintings.

I’m a former Art Director and Graphic Designer for publications and advertising firms. I have also been privileged to be in many painting competitions and exhibits, winning some awards along the way. Over the years I have studied with several prominent artists and painters. I have a degree in Fine Art from the University of Texas at Austin and attended The Gage Academy of Art in Seattle WA.

I also created the locally and nationally known art event, “Pacific Northwest Plein Air Competition” in 2005 with the help of many people along the way, it now has a home in the Maryhill Museum of Art in Goldendale WA.

I am constantly amazed by what I see here in The Great Pacific Northwest and want to share it with you. My paintings represent what I find beautiful and interesting in the world. I want to bring that beauty into other people’s environments and share the joy and optimism I feel. I hope you can feel the joy and energy in my work that I feel from living in and being inspired by such a beautiful place.
