Artist Statement:

​

I call my work fabric collage. Using many small pieces of fabric and free motion stitching I build layers of detail to create my original designs. These collages are colorful, textured and often have a bit of whimsy. I work with both commercial fabrics and fabrics I have hand dyed for the current project.

 

Fabric has always had special meaning for me. When I hold fabric in my hands, I feel connected to all the generations of women who have come before. My studio is my happy place! My goal is always to use fabric in collage to express feelings and tell stories. My subjects come from the heart; seascapes with families at play, fanciful animals, bright whimsical flowers, and women – young to old. Fabric is my pleasure and my addiction.

 

 In addition to my originals, I produce a limited-edition line of hand sewn tote bags, throw pillows, potholders, tea towels and coasters featuring my original designs.  Pillows and tote bags are embellished with additional free motion stitching making each of them a unique one-of-a-kind original.
