Artistic Journey Across Regions
Having lived in the Mid-South, the Rocky Mountains, California, and the Northwest, I’ve drawn inspiration from the distinct character of each region. Among these, the South and the Northwest have offered the richest trove of subject matter and continue to fuel much of my creative work.
Influences & Style
My landscape style is rooted in the traditions of pre-Impressionist painters such as George Inness, Asher Durand, and Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot. Their atmospheric sensibilities and reverence for nature deeply inform my approach.
My figure and portrait work took shape in Clarksdale, Mississippi, where I studied under a student of Marshall Bouldin III, a formative experience that shaped my understanding of form and expression.
Early Foundations
I was raised in a family of artists, where creativity was both inherited and encouraged. My passion for art was nurtured through both home and school. I transitioned from acrylics to oils in high school, continued painting through college, and returned to it more fully after retirement.
By my own definition, I am a recreational artist—one who paints for the joy of it, with a deep respect for the craft and its lineage.
